Spreydon Baptist Church:
Aspiring to be a redemptive community ...
... that seeks to be a place where the broken can find wholeness, the poor can find empowerment, the sick can find healing, the needy can find support, the young can find hope and the lost can find salvation.
Sharing the love of Christ in the world by word, sign and deed.
We believe that mission is the supreme calling of the church, and that the church is intended to be an agent and instrument of the Kingdom of God. We are called to bear witness to the gospel of Christ by:
- Word - We value the proclaiming, teaching and study of the Bible
- Sign - We value the empowering work of the Spirit and the gifts and inspiration He gives us.
- Deed - We value the deeds of the Kingdom expressed especially to the poor and needy both here and around the world.
So that unbelieving people become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.
The goal in what we are doing is to help move people from unbelief into a life long adventure of following Jesus Christ within a community of faith that seeks to live for the Kingdom of God.
- We are a community of people who believe that being personally committed to Jesus Christ is the most important thing we can do with our lives.
- We believe in the authority of the Bible, that tells us about God's amazing redemptive love.
- We believe that we show our commitment to Jesus through being baptised and committed to the local church.
- We believe that small groups are the best means of growing relationships and people as disciples of Jesus.
- We believe in the empowering of the Holy Spirit and the availability of spiritual gifts to followers of Jesus.
- We believe that the Holy Spirit inspires dreams and visions that result in ministries to those in need.
- We believe in the importance of evangelism, in leading individuals to a personal faith in Jesus.
- We believe in God's call to global mission, so we invest a large part of our resources in this.
- We believe in God's mission priority to the poor and needy, so we develop ministries to reflect this.
- We believe in ministry to youth and children so we are growing an ongoing movement into the next generation.
- We believe in the prophetic call to stand with the oppressed and the victims of injustice.
- We believe in the priority of the Kingdom of God in all we seek to do.
