Going Deep

We are a mission-hearted church where people get stuck in and work hard in a big God -inspired Kingdom vision. To sustain and grow this mission we sense a need for each individual, life group, community ministry, neighbourhood community and church ministry group to make it a priority to go deeper in relationship with God; going deeper in prayer and in worship together.  John 21 reminds us that Peter’s love for Jesus, and our own love for Jesus must precede our mission work.

John 21:

15When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?"
"Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you."
      Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."

16Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?"
He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep."

17 The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?"
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you."

    Jesus said, "Feed my sheep".

Working together in common mission

We are sensing a trend in which we see genuine change in people’s lives and the communities we care for when we work together at the local level. We want to encourage more of this. Zephaniah 3 v 9 speaks about working “shoulder to shoulder” – what a fantastic image of partnering in common mission.   As we look for natural grass roots opportunities to work together,  we believe God will be able to do far more through us.

Zephaniah 3 v 9

9 "Then will I purify the lips of the peoples,
that all of them may call on the name of the LORD
and serve him shoulder to shoulder.

Investing in the next generation

Our church was planted by a 24 year old farm labourer Thomas Jefcoate with a dream to start a church. Working with Charlotte Twigger, who  encouraged and supported him, they, led by the Spirit of God,  got the church underway. We sense now is the time to invest in the next generation of leaders to ensure the unique mission heart of the church is carried into the future.

Listening to and following together the adventurous Holy Spirit.

There is a very strong sense amongst the leadership groups that God is calling us to be more open to listening to the Holy Spirit.  We need to follow the adventurous mission dreams of the Spirit. Rather than becoming cynical and safe we sense God inviting us to really listen to the Holy Spirit and to step into adventurous new journeys with Jesus.
