A book has been written by Joan Davidson about Stepping Stone and the last ten years, from 1990 to 2000.
From the back cover:
It is the story of lives being changed. Stepping Stone is a Christian organisation which was established following the inspiration of one man, Graeme Reid. Graeme, a community worker, started in 1989 to flesh out the idea of accommodation and rehabilitation for young people with mental illness. He, and a handful of like-minded people prayed and researched resources for about a year prior to establishing the first house. Since then the service has expanded and continues to do so.
This history is written from the perspective of a one-time manager then trust member who felt compelled to record some of the remarkable happenings within that service. The book is about people. It contains real stories of real people who have been willing to share their personal journeys. Each one has been a part of that rehabilitation service - the living history, which makes the service what it is.
It is hoped that those who read it will be encouraged to think positively about the courageous people who wrestie daily with mental illness. It is a testimony to what God has done and continues to do.
