Volunteering in the Cafe

What kinds of jobs are there in the café?
Waiter, Kitchen hand, Food preparation, Counter staff, Barista, Till person, Baker, Cook,  Dishwasher.

When can I help out?
Daytime, nighttime, weekdays, Sundays,

Do I need experience?
We’ll train you to do whatever you need to do. Of course if you DO have experience, we’d love to see you too!

How much do I have to commit to?
You choose what you’d like to do, and when and how often. You could volunteer once a month on Sunday evenings for an hour or two, or two Sunday mornings a month, or you might like to help out a few times a year with catering– it’s entirely up to you!

How does the money stuff work?
We run the café as a small-profit business. This means that we try to make enough to cover our costs, and have a bit spare for replacement of equipment. However there is not a great profit made. Our food prices are kept low, so that more people can afford to come and use the café. Almost all the people who work in the café are volunteers.

So how do I get involved?
You can phone David Tue to Fri 8.30am - 3.00pm (see contact details above) or leave your name at the Info Centre on Sundays.
