| WELCOME | |
Kia Ora Spreydon Whanau, Looking back, I really enjoyed the services last week – Fathers’ Day, the end of the mission series and the anniversary of our first major earthquake event. I thought that the services reflected who God is and who we are as a community of faith. We acknowledged the ache of the last year, but also hope rising as we move forward. The kids releasing helium balloons was uplifting. The Fathers’ Day cards, lollie-cake and café vouchers helped make Fathers’ Day the best yet for me. The interview with Matt Wright on Sunday night was particularly inspirational. So welcome to our services today, as we flow on to our Global Missions focus, and this time on the 10 year anniversary of September 11, 2001. I distinctly remember that day, I’m sure you do too. A lot has changed and gone on since that day. Anniversaries are a good time to look again to God for strength and hope for the future – it’s good to be together with you for that. Global Missions week is underway again for another year, with the kick-off last night with the Night Market (I’m writing this on Wednesday and I’m at a wedding reception, so can’t say truthfully that it was great, but I’m sure it was!!). Please pop into the prayer caravan in the car park on the next two Wednesdays –September 14 and 21 between 7am and 7pm, to pray for our work and workers overseas. Buy your ticket today at the Info Centre for the breakfast next Saturday, featuring some of our overseas family who are home at the moment. We are planning another Baptism Sunday on October 2. If you want to know more about it, or have already decided you would like to be baptised, please come to the Meeting Room behind the Media Room today or next Sunday at 10.30am or 8.30pm to learn more. Lastly, a reminder about the Ellel Ministries Healing service this Wednesday 14 September in the Auditorium 7 – 9pm. There will be worship, some teaching and an opportunity to be prayed with by members of the Ellel team. Its good stuff – I went to a similar night a couple of months ago and personally got a lot out of the worship, teaching and some concentrated prayer. This time however I’ll be in Whangarei with my son Jesse, watching Canada play Tonga. I’ll be singing my heart out up there instead. “Oh Canada!!” Cheers, Duane |

| Building Blocks Community Trust Tomorrow is the beginning of the next chapter in the Building Blocks Community Trust’s journey. We have finally made it to the day our new centre opens. We would love to see you tomorrow morning at our whare blessing, all welcome, meeting opposite 51 Edinburgh Street at 5.30am. Our first children will start in the morning also. There have been so many challenges come our way since the vision for a third centre was planted by God. God has taught us so much in our frustration of red tape and the events of Christchurch. It’s been a long two years but a big thanks to those who have continued to support us in prayer and encouragements. We still need your support so keep asking about us and praying. We are open today 12.30-1.30pm, especially for you to have a look - All welcome! |
