WELCOME
Gidday.
Welcome to this Baptism Sunday. We are stoked to celebrate with Alley Mander who was baptised last Sunday, Colin Hansen, Lorima Malo and James Hill who were baptised during the Tuesday Christian Fellowship gathering, and Xiao Li, Alice McLean, and Samantha Gavin who are being baptised today.
It’s been great to be meeting lots of new folks around the place. If you are new to Spreydon and would like to know more of what we are about and what makes us tick, then Discovery is for you. It’s being held on Thursday December 8, 7.30pm at 57 Rydal Street, Hoon Hay. Please contact me on dbates@spreydon.org.nz if you want to come.
Only one week to go before the Grotto starts setting up in the Auditorium for another year! Thanks to all of you who have volunteered so far to help with all the bits and pieces for that. The café is also in need of extra pairs of hands, as it’s open all the hours of the Grotto, so please sign up for that as well at the Grotto table in the foyer. It’s a lot of fun serving as part of a team during this time, and great to be able to provide hospitality and care for the thousands who will visit our church buildings this Christmas.
Wearing my local hat, the Addington Primary School fair is this Friday December 2, 5-7 pm. The Spreydonites involved in the Addington neighbourhood community are working closely with the school to run the fair, so please come down and support the fundraising for a playground. You can get into the school via entrances on Brougham or Simeon Streets.
Only 28 sleeps until Christmas. Woohoo!
Dave

GLOBAL MISSION
Diane Goodman
Bible translation, Chad
“It's good to be in Christchurch at this beautiful time of the year despite the occasional shake. I'm enjoying belonging to a life group. It's great to get to know more people.
Right now it's harvest time in Chad. Please pray for good returns from all their work in the fields.
Please pray also for the shipment of the Kenga New Testaments from Korea to Cameroon and then by road to Chad. The costs of sending one NT were so high the Kenga has been delayed (3-6 months) so that three NTs can go together.
Praise the Lord that I am getting excellent recovery time and encouraging words as I prepare for a new project amongst an unreached people group, the Barma. I will have an information evening on Monday February 13 in the cafe. I would love to get in touch with new supporters for this next part of my life overseas.”
COMMUNITY MINISTRY
Christmas Grotto
Once again we have an amazing opportunity to meet many people from the community, make them feel welcome at our church and show them what an amazing bunch of people we are at Spreydon.
Thank God for - the safe arrival of all our orders from overseas
- the help to make this Grotto possible
- the many people signing up to help
Pray for - the race to get the new sets built and finished in time
- safety for everyone during setup, pack up, and the running of Grotto
- the team through the 2 weeks of the Grotto running
- enough people to sign up to help welcome people in the Grotto and to serve the rest homes
- God to touch the people who come to the Grotto and those who help
Please check the boards in the foyer and see where you may be able to help us.
Thanks
Linda and the Grotto team
